Designers today have a powerful tool at their fingertips – personal data. This data, collected from human behaviors and interactions, can be leveraged to create seamless digital experiences that truly benefit people’s lives. However, with great power comes great responsibility. The “Design Human Data” framework aims to guide designers in using this data ethically and responsibly.
As designers, we are at the forefront of technological advancements that can have a huge impact on society. We draw from the flux of data and give new digital products a face with which people can interact. Our data source is usually human, in the form of behavioral tendencies and personal information.
The “Design Human Data” kit provides comprehensive tools and information to help designers and their teams create sustainable, user-centered data services. This includes a Data Material Book for building a basic understanding of data in design, Personal Data Cards for analyzing data service ideas, a Privacy Model and Data Canvas for validating ideas from different perspectives, and guidance on developing ethical attitudes toward personal data.
