OpenMoji is a massive open-source emoji project created by students and professors at HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd University in Germany. The goal is to design a consistent and inclusive set of emojis that are free to use by all.

So far, volunteers have created over 4,000 emojis across many categories. The styles are meant to work together seamlessly yet look good as individual icons. OpenMoji carefully follows the Unicode emoji standards.

In addition to the standard emoji designs, there are special categories for areas like technology, environment, and UI design. Each emoji is crafted through multiple iterations to get it just right.

Skin tones are supported through the Fitzpatrick scale to make the emojis more diverse. Even country flags from all over the world are included. The emojis come in both color and outlined black versions for different uses.

Anyone can download the emojis in various formats like SVG and PNG and even install the OpenMoji font. An iOS app is also available. Best of all, the entire collection is free to use under an open-source license.
