Universal Design Guide homepage with open source tools.

The Universal Design Guide is a free and open-source resource built to promote inclusive design practices across industries. Created by the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in collaboration with the Bevica Foundation, the platform serves as a practical toolkit for designers, educators, and teams aiming to integrate universal design principles into their workflows. Its primary purpose is to ensure that technological and design solutions serve as many people as possible—regardless of ability—through accessibility, empathy, and thoughtful iteration.

Central to the guide are its interactive tools and facilitation aids, including the Playbook for Universal Design (to plan and run inclusive design workshops), Ability Prompt Cards (to uncover mismatches between solutions and diverse user needs), and Principle Prompt Cards (to assess inclusivity at different design stages). The site also offers educational modules and recorded lectures to support awareness and professional development. Together, these tools empower users to evaluate and adapt designs with empathy and usability at the core, supporting the broader initiative of “Technology Leaving No One Behind.”
